Short /e/

This week we are working on the sound that "short e" makes. Like all the other short vowel sounds, we have created a little hand signal that helps us remember the sound. Ask your child to show you how to do the "e, e, elephant." Please help your child build "short e" words at home. We will be continuing that practice at school throughout the week.

Math

In math this week, we are starting to focus on subtraction. In this week's lessons, we are using a number line to help us subtract. Please practice this strategy at home. Using our fingers is still okay, but at sometime we will not have enough fingers. A number line can be drawn on a piece of paper, printed off the internet or a ruler is a fine substitute.

A big thank you to all the parents that planned and helped out at our wonderful Halloween party. It was a fabulous day! The kids looked awesome in their costumes! Thank you again for a party we will never forget!
