Reading:
We are studying the long /i/ sound again this week. Long /i/ can be spelled many different ways. The 5 ways we study are; i, -y, -igh, -ie, i-e. Please help your child build and read long /i/ words.
We are reading a story called "Blast Off!" Students will be doing a small research project on a planet of their choice. Ask your child to share with you the interesting facts they learned about their planet.

Math:
There will be math homework on Monday night. A test on telling time will follow on Tuesday.
Our new chapter will focus on measurement. In this chapter we will be able to:
*put objects in order according to their length
*estimate and measure length using nonstandard units(paper clips)
*estimate and measure length using an inch ruler
*select inches or feet as the appropriate unit
*estimate and measure length to the nearest centimeter, using a centimeter ruler

Thank you to everyone that came to our "Parents and Poetry Party"!
It was great to see everyone and have so much support for our young poets. I hope you all enjoyed yourself. I will be getting a copy of the readings to everyone before the end of the year. Thank you again!
